A breaking play from contemporary Indian theatre is Final Solutions (1992) by Mahesh Dattani (1958) which is a. critically acclaimed and thought provoking play which brings out important and representative features of the. fragmented modern Indian life and poses varied questions of communal disharmony.
Final Solutions has taken the issues of the majority communities in different contexts and situations. It talks of the problems of cultural hegemony, how Hindus had to suffer at the hands of Muslim majority like the characters of Hardika/Daksha in Hussainabad. And how Muslims like Javed suffer in the set up of the majority Hindu community. This all resulted in communal riots and culminated in disruption of the normal social life, and thus hampered the progress of the nation. Here is the poster of the film adaptation.

*Short understanding video from the Youtube.
1.What is the difference between the movie and the play?We can ponder upon this question so we can say that both have slight differences as well. The beginning of the play tells the story of past and present of Daksha or Hardika. While if we look at the movie there was the chair used instead of a diary.
2.Does the movie help you to understand the narrative structure of the play?
Yes, we definitely agree that film adaptation is fully based on the narrative structure of the play as well as we can find that additional thing that is chorus in the movie.
3 .What do you think about women’s situation during the time of communal riots?
As we all know that still we have indeed of feminism because this movie and play through we can get the idea of daksha’s father in law and mother in law can not agree to the idea of daksha because she wants to become a singer but her family can not accept the idea of her point of view, still we are in poor thoughts that woman does not take rights to become something that she want that’s the indian culture as well as our ritual to that does not accept the things or idea which is given by woman still male centric culture we are having..
Thanks😊
